Project Objectives
- Learn to cook and bake in the kitchen!
- Understand culinary, nutritional, and scientific aspects of food
- Develop knowledge of kitchen safety including how to avoid cross contamination and knife skills
Competitions
- Food Show (Individual) - choose a recipe to present to judges, learn about the dishes preparation process, nutrition, and food safety. Give a brief presentation to judges about the dish.
- Food Challenge (Team) - in a group of four to five members will be given a random bag of food with 40 minutes to create a dish. Using skills of safety, preparation, and nutritional facts teams will present their dish to judges.
- Family and Community Health (FCH) Quiz Bowl (Team) - compete using knowledge of nutrition, food safety, preparation, and consumer information. In a race against the clock team members will buzz in to correctly answer questions and earn points.
